UNDP Attends Debate on Results of Human Rights Survey

UNDP Mozambique Launches the Global Risk Identification Programme

Floods in the north and center: Parliamentary groups in affected areas

Decentralized District Planning and Finance Programme as a World Class Success

Maputo, 27 March 2007 - With its Decentralized District Planning and Finance Programme hosted by the Ministry of Planning and Development, Mozambique is one of the six case studies of a research commissioned by the World Bank entitled “Aid that Works: Successful Development in Fragile States”. Mozambican Government Launches Post-Disaster Reconstruction Plan

Maputo, 9 March 2007 - On Monday 05 March 2007, the Prime Minister of Mozambique, Luisa Dias Diogo, launched the Government’s Preliminary Plan for Post-Disaster Resettlement and Reconstruction. The 71 million USD recovery and reconstruction plan emphasizes on the resettlement of people, the reactivation of agricultural production, water supplies and roads, health and educational support, the reconstruction of public infrastructure and rapid recovery support to the private sector.

UN Strengthens Government's Early Recovery Coordination Capacity in Mozambique

Maputo, 7 March 2007 - Mozambique is heavily impacted by floods events combined with the effect of the tropical cyclone Favio as well as severe pockets of droughts. This scenario has been affecting negatively the progress made by the Government and its wide range of partners on the sustainability of human development.

Through its Bureau for Crisis Prevention and Recovery, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) provided support to the National Disaster Management Institute (INGC), the Country Office and the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office in Mozambique.
