As members of the One UN family, we want to be a key policy advisor and development partner to the Government and People of Mozambique for the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals and Capacity Development.
Capacity development
The overriding theme our current programme is capacity development, both for government and non-governmental actors. UNDP Mozambique supports capacity development of provincial, district and municipal administrations in the areas of coordination, planning, monitoring and evaluation. In the line with the public sector reform process, UNDP also supports the government’s decentralization and e-government strategies.
UNDP has a strong focus on enhancing the role of civil society. Civil society organizations are encouraged to become fully-pledged development agents and capable to promote human development.
Making UN Reform
As being one of the eight pilot countries of Delivering as One UN reform, UNDP Mozambique is taking steps towards ensuring that its substantive programme and coordination role increasingly becomes mutually reinforced, inclusive in terms of policy analysis and transparent and efficient as a means in ensuring greater development coherence.
