Maputo, 15 February 2007 – Building upon the experience gained and progress made during the implementation of the previous Country Programme from 2002 to 2006, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has signed its Country Programme Action Plan (CPAP) for the period 2007-2009 with the Government of Mozambique.
Maputo, 20 November 2006 – The Mozambican Government signed on Friday, 17 November 2006, a Project document with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP Mozambique) regarding the support to the implementation of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) in Mozambique.
Maputo, 10 November 2006 - Witnessed by high level Government officials, donor community, civil society organizations, private sector and media representatives, UNDP Mozambique yesterday launched the Human Development Report 2006 in Maputo. Titled Beyond scarcity: power, poverty and the global water crisis, the report ranks Mozambique at 168 in the Human Development Index out of 177 countries surveyed, which posts the country above Angola, Sierra Leone and Swaziland but below Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea.
Maputo, 6 November 2006 – The proliferation of illicit small arms in Mozambique, especially in the main urban centers, has become one of the main factors of insecurity for citizens and their assets. This situation may change for the worse due to a weak policy environment and the existing legal framework.

Maputo, 26 September 2006 – Mozambique has recorded significant improvements in economic growth complemented by advances in human and social fronts in recent years. The incidence of absolute poverty in the country reduced by 15.3 per cent, from 69.4 per cent in 1996/97 to 54.1 per cent in 2002/03.
Maputo, 18 September 2006 – Since August 2006, the United Nations System in Mozambique is under new leadership. Mr. Ndolamb Ngokwey, a national of the Democratic Republic of Congo, began his assignment as UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative.

Maputo, 4 August 2006 – In partnership with the Governments of Italy, Sweden, Canada and Portugal, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) provided assistance to the Mozambican 2003 municipal elections and 2004 general ones. The European Union also supported the electoral process directly through the state budget.
